The fourth season of Chuck finds everyone’s favorite anti-hero Chuck bumbling his way through the unique mix of drama and comedy that makes Chuck like nothing else on television. At times romantic and always hilarious, the adventures of Mr. Nice Guy (and now CIA agent) Chuck Bartkowski played by Zachary Levi is finally available on DVD and Blu-Ray.

Chuck: The Complete Fourth Season

Chuck joins fellow CIA agent Sara Walker (played by the gorgeous Yvonne Strahovski) both personally and in a professional context while Chuck’s best friend Morgan (played by Joshua Gomez) are on the lookout for Chuck’s birth mother, Mary Bartkowski. When it turns out that Mary is a rogue CIA agent working for an international arms dealer, Chuck, Morgan, Sara and the gang have to track her down to find out the truth.

Originally, the fourth season of Chuck was to be the last season of the show and the season was shortened to just thirteen episodes. High ratings and fan demand pushed it into a full season of twenty-four episodes. Fans of Chuck were thrilled at the prospect of two cliffhanger season finales.

Chuck is great at incorporating in-jokes and riffing on popular TV series and movies, and the fourth season is stuffed with these parodies. Romantic interludes, dramatic moments, and the twisted plot that Chuck fans have come to love are the main reason why Chuck has been extended for at least one more season. The fifth season will be the show’s last, so stock up on the fourth season of Chuck now and catch up with the secret agent gang you know and love.

Even though we know that the fifth season will be the show’s last (thanks to sagging ratings and a lack of new fans drawn in to the rather complex backstory), I like to imagine what Chuck would be like if the show continued.

Here are some fan fiction ideas gathered from around the Internet and my own Chuck-obsessed brain.

Chuck vs. Wally World

This episode in my fantasy Chuck season finds our hero out of a job due to government cutbacks and forced to work at a huge chain of megastores eerily similar to Wal-mart. We see Chuck attempting to piece together the answers to mysteries like “Who stole my Lunchables from the employee fridge?” and “Why can’t I earn a living wage working an honest job?” Opportunities for comedy are endless, as suave and handsome Chuck is forced to participate in the most banal of retail work situations. Guest stars could be Zach Galifianakis as the slightly overbearing totally insane Wally World manager and Sarah Silverman as a customer obsessed with Chuck.

Chuck: The Complete Fourth Season

Chuck vs. Pregnancy

In this wacky episode idea, the CIA reveals that Chuck has been implanted with a baby to test out some new science on the part of the CIA: can men have babies?

Chuck doesn’t react well at first until he realizes the huge payoff the CIA is offering him in exchange for going through with it. Of course, it all turns out to be a dream ala the famous Cosby Show male pregnancy episode. Hilarity, of course, ensues.

Chuck vs. Chuck

When Chuck meets his clone (or is it his clone?) his world is shattered. Even worse, it turns out that the clone is really Chuck from the future–and meeting yourself from the future can have dire consequences for the stability of the entire universe. Thick with string theory, physics, and hard science, this episode would be a natural fit for a guest appearance by Stephen Hawking and other famous science figures, including an Albert Einstein impersonator and everyone’s favorite theoretical physicist, Mike Tyson.

Chuck vs. Professional Baseball

Chuck has to go undercover on a baseball team to discover the identity of a Cuban double agent and attempt to apprehend him. But Chuck’s CIA connections can only get him so far, so guest star Pete Rose teaches him the ins and outs of cheating your way into a baseball clubhouse. You could have all sorts of sports stars making cameos, and draw in a whole new audience to the greatest show on television.

Those are just a few of my (in my opinion) awesome ideas for Chuck episodes. Have your own ideas about Chuck? Drop them in the comments. You never know–maybe the network will see them and invite you onto the writing staff. Hasn’t worked for me, but you never know.

The music on Chuck is consistently awesome. A mix of indie bands, mainstream acts, and totally obscure up and coming artists. Here are my favorite songs from Chuck, along with their Youtube videos.

The New Pornographers – Challengers

Canadian supergroup (incudling members Neko Case, AC Newman, and Dan Bejar among others) adds one of the greatest songs ever written about adultery. Don’t let your significant other hear you jamming this song unless you want to answer a lot of awkward questions about that lipstick on your collar. A perfect fit for Chuck and its target audience of college-educated 25-40 year olds, as comfortable with Top 40 as with indie rock.

The New Pornographers took a while to find their target audience, much like Chuck itself, so it comes as no surprise that the two worlds would collide. After all, they’re both much too smart for their audience and much too funny to be ignored.

Band Of Horses – “No One’s Gonna Love You”

College radio mavens Band of Horses nail it once again with this awesome pop song. It is a perfect fit for the show, and a song that gets a ton of replay on my stereo. The moment this song plays during Chuck is absolutely perfect. Sing it loud, sing it proud. With the windows down. In the shower. Wherever you want.

Gogol Bordello – “Ultimate”

Gogol Bordello is the world’s greatest gypsy punk revolutionary music bar none. This song perfectly fits the funny and romantic aspect of Chuck and is a standout piece of music no matter what show its featured on. Awesome band, awesome song, awesome episode of Chuck.

Chuck: The Complete Fourth Season

Mates of State – “Second Hand News”

This chill cover of a Fleetwood Mac classic was practically written for a cable TV show. Just poppy enough to ignore, but cool enough to put on a mixtape for a friend with nostalgia and a long road trip ahead of them.

The Cave Singers – “Black Leaf”

One of the greatest lead singers in indie rock leads The Cave Singers, and this iconic song is just cool and spy-like enough for Chuck. The record this song comes from, 2011′s No Witch, is worth a listen if you’re a fan of Chuck, this song, or life in general.

Death Cab For Cutie – “You Are A Tourist”

One-time indie darlings Death Cab for Cutie are now big fish in the mainstream. This song doesn’t necessarily scream “Chuck” to me, but I do love the tune, and it would be a perfect addition to any Chuck mixtape you could put together, especially for a lady-friend or other crush.

Hopefully, the end of Chuck will see these guys appear in more and more projects, especially since the Chuck fan base has literally fallen in love with these guys over the last five years.

Here’s a quick look at the cast and their bios.

Zachary Levi as Chuck Bartowski

Zach Levi is an actor, director, and singer known for a handful of good roles: Kipp Steadman in Less than Perfect, Chuck Bartowski in Chuck, and Flynn Rider in Tangled. Born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Levi is a sports car and motorcycle nut, and an outspoken Evangelical Christian.

Chuck: The Complete Fourth Season

Adam Baldwin as Maj. John Casey

Baldwin is an actor known for his roles as Animal Mother in Stanley Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket, Ricky Linderman in My Bodyguard, Knowle Rohrer in The X-Files, and Marcus Hamilton in Joss Whedon’s cult hit Angel. He also has a huge cult following as Jayne Cobb in the cult hit series Firefly and its film sequel Serenity. Baldwin plays John Casey on Chuck and is also the voice talent for Decepticon Breakdown in Transformers: Prime.

Yvonne Strahovski as Sarah Walker

Strahovski is an Australian actress famous in Australian TV but unknown in America before Chuck. She was born in Australia to Polish immigrant parents, so she speaks both Polish and English. After graduating from the University of Western Sydney, she starred in Australian TV (in a show called headLand) before landing the lead role in Chuck.

Joshua Gomez as Morgan Grimes

Born in Bayonne, New Jersey, Gomez is an American actor best known for his role as Morgan Grimes on Chuck. He appeared in a recurring role in Without a Trace as computer tech James Mackeroy and also in a series of IBM commercials, a series of Wendy’s commercials, and a Garmin commercial. Gomez is also an accomplished voice actor, portraying Baralai in the video game Final Fantasy X-2.

Interesting side note: Gomez is best friends with his Chuck co-star, Zachary Levi, in real life.

Sarah Lancaster as Ellie Bartowski

Born and raised in Kansas, Lancaster’s first TV role was as Rachel in the NBC series Saved by the Bell: The New Class. From 2004 – 2006, Lancaster played Madison Kellner on The WB’s popular show Everwood. She also had a major recurring guest role on NBC’s Scrubs as JD’s love-interest as the fan-favorite Lisa the Gift-Shop Girl.
